Annual Woodhall Spa Parish Council Photo Competition

Photo Competition theme 2026:

Woodhall Spa, a great place in which to live and work

Judge: Dave Robson LBIPP EFIAP/b – a professional photographer, photography club member and experience competition judge. Eclipse photography, Matthew Temple House, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa LN10 6ST (runs beginner courses).

Images will be judged prior to 8th May Annual Parish Meeting

There will be three winners in each class plus commendations

Photographs can be taken by mobile phone or camera and must be submitted by midday Thursday 30th April 2026 as follows:

  • Digital images in .jpg format to parish.clerk@woodhallspaparishcouncil.gov.uk
  • Printed images (max A4) can be posted to the Parish Council Office at 17, Stanhope Avenue, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6SP
  • Printed images (Max A4) can be hand delivered to the Parish Council office in Stanhope Avenue by midday

Prizes will be awarded at the Annual Parish Meeting when the winning entries will be displayed.

By entering this competition, participants agree to allow the Parish Council to use their image, attributed to the entrant, in its social media and website.

Competition rules and guidelines

WSPC Photographic Competition Rules for publication:

1. Eligibility

  • The competition is open to all amateur photographers.

Three age categories.

·Children: Under 11 (school years up to Year 6)

  • Seniors: 12 – 18 (years 7 to 13)
  • Adults:

(NB: All entrants must state their date of birth on the entry photograph.)

2. Number of Entries

  • Each entrant may submit up to 3 photographs.

3. Categories

  • Judges reserve the right to reassign entries or disqualify images entered in an inappropriate category.

4. Image Ownership & Copyright

  • All photographs must be the original work of the entrant.
  • Copyright remains with the photographer.
  • By entering, the photographer grants the organiser permission to use submitted images for competition publicity, exhibition, and results reporting, with credit given.
  • Entrants will be invited to confirm that they are willing for the Parish Council to use their images in its publicity and attribute them to the entrant.

5. Image Capture

  • Photographs must be taken by a camera or mobile phone and be the entrants own work.
  • Use of drone images and AI-generated images will not be allowed.
  • Composite images will be allowed providing it is clearly stated at the time of entry.

6. Editing & Manipulation (for those hobbyists amongst you)

  • Permitted adjustments:
    • Cropping
    • Exposure, contrast, colour balance
    • Sharpening and noise reduction
  • Prohibited (unless explicitly allowed in a creative category):
    • Adding or removing significant elements
    • Heavy compositing
    • AI-generated or AI-altered content
  • Judges’ decisions on acceptability are final.

7. File Format & Size

  • Printed images must be submitted no larger than A4.
  • No borders, watermarks, signatures, or identifying marks.
  • Printing on photographic paper is a matter of choice and not a requirement.

*Given that some entries may have been printed on light domestic print paper, a backing may be necessary to allow the print to be strong enough for display. This is a matter of choice.

*A print is always best presented on a photo mount. These are inexpensive and often supplied free with photo frames. Again, this is a matter of choice.

8. Submission and Deadline

  • Entries must be received by Thursday 30th April 2026.
  • Prints may be handed into the Parish Office which is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10.00 a.m-16.00 p.m.
  • Digital images should be emailed to parish.clerk@woodhallspaparishcouncil.gov.uk
  • Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Date of birth must be written on the rear of prints or included in the covering email of digital images

10. Judging

  • Judging will be conducted by Dave Robson LBIPP EFIAP/b. Dave is an accomplished photo judge, a local photographer and camera club member.
  • Ther judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into by them or the Parish Council.

11. Disqualification

  • Entries may be disqualified if they:
    • Breach these rules
    • Infringe copyright or privacy
    • Contain offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate content

12. Results & Awards

  • Results will be announced at the Annual Parish Meeting on Friday 8th May at 6.30 p.m.
  • Prizes, certificates and commendations will be awarded at the Annual Parish Meeting.

13. Data Protection

  • Personal data will be used solely for the administration of the competition and handled in accordance with data protection legislation.
